Vengeance

Following in the promising footsteps of Whiplash and BlacKkKlansman, this is another non-horror film to be produced under the Blumhouse stable. Best known as an actor in The Office, BJ Novak has written and directed this satirical black comedy. After a call out of the blue, an obnoxious New York journalist is shaken by the death of a woman he once knew, his investigative instincts get him embroiled in the small-town community that was around her. Though the film begins to turn towards thriller territory, its observational and subversive writing appears to be the project’s more cherished element; character actors, including Ashton Kutcher, appear to get their chance to shine as the locals.
