Babylon
Always make a scene.
Damien Chazelle’s first feature film in four years takes the audience on a journey to 1920s Hollywood. Chazelle has already explored Los Angeles in the Oscar-winning La La Land, but this time around he solely focuses on Hollywood in particular. Babylon chronicles some of the most important changes in Hollywood’s history as the industry transitions from silent films to sound films. The film features an all-star cast, led by Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt. The trailer promises an entertaining and exciting look at this period of Hollywood history by delving into the debauchery and profanity of this era. The trailer opens with Robbie’s character snorting a line of cocaine from the Paramount logo! The trailer also promises Chazelle’s trademarks of grand production designs and a prominent score from his frequent collaborator Justin Hurwitz. Chazelle described the film as a ‘hate letter to Hollywood but a love letter to cinema’. If you want to see Robbie fight a snake, or an extended party scene with many hijinks, make sure to check out Babylon at the Student Cinema!
