Review:

Following on the recent trend of directors making movies inspired by their childhood, one of the greatest directors of all time brings his childhood story to the big screen. Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical movie explores the director’s childhood and first years as a director. The film explores the story of aspiring filmmaker Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel LaBelle) by depicting his early filmmaking passions and his relationship with his parents (Michelle Williams and Paul Dano). This might seem like another entry into the power of cinema canon, but with one of the great directors helming this one makes this a film not to be missed! As-of-writing it has yet to be released in the UK, but the film has already garnered widespread acclaim from its festival premieres and is set to be one of the frontrunners for this upcoming awards season. Could The Fabelmans be the film that finally sees Spielberg win his third directing Oscar? Make sure to come check out The Fabelmans this term and see what all the hype is about!
