Review:

One of the most acclaimed films of 2022 arrives at the Student Cinema this year! Aftersun is Charlotte Wells’ directorial debut and the film stars Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio as a father-and-daughter on holiday in Turkey. Aftersundeeply explores the power of memory whilst reflecting on parental-child relationships by showing both the beauty and the scars that can occur from this. Aftersun won the jury prize at the International Critics’ Week at Cannes 2022 and has continued to receive acclaim from both critics and audiences since then. Aftersun slowly meanders through many holiday moments, quietly building to a powerful ending. The performances in this movie are fantastic with Mescal and Corio both successfully capturing the joy and the pain of familial relationships. Aftersun is a film that will stick with you for a long time after watching it and it is one that you will struggle to forget after experiencing it.
