Nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Oscars and winning Best Adapted Screenplay for Sarah Polley’s adaptation of Miriam Toews novel, Women Talking comes to the Student Cinema this term! The film follows a group of women talking about how to approach their situation after they find out that the colony’s men have drugged and raped women within their secluded community. They discuss whether to do nothing, stay and fight, or leave. Polley’s screenplay importantly discusses many societal issues and presents an important message. Women Talking features an all-star ensemble cast which includes Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, Claire Foy, Ben Whishaw and Frances McDormand. The film received critical acclaim at many major film festivals and is worth watching.
