There’s not much style wise that can be said about I Still Know What You Did Last Summer which couldn’t be said about its prequel, or in fact about any of the Scream films. It’s a cheesy teen horror set in America starring someone who first hit the limelight in Party Of Five. It’s not particularly scary. It’s amusing. It ends with the potential for a sequel. If, like me, you’re eagerly anticipating Scream 3; or want to see what more damage the man with the fishhook can inflict upon Julie James (Hewitt) then it’s a great movie.
The plot starts where Julie has gone back to college, and is still shaken by the events of the summer. When her best friend Karla (Brandy) wins a radio competition to the Bahamas she takes Julie, Ray (Karla’s boyfriend) and Will (who goes as Julie’s boyfriend from home is unable to make it in time) for the idyllic break. Unfortunately, a tropical storm breaks out, and Julie and her friends are stuck in the tropical paradise with a killer- as the body count rises Julie has to stay alive, and discover who she can really trust.
The cast overall are great- Love Hewitt shines in her role as the scared and victimised student, and the bloke with the fishhook rules. Wisely they don’t let Brandy sing....
