Review:

I am sure you all remember the infamous GameStop short squeeze of January 2021, which literally lost major hedge funds billions and made some redditors multi-millionaires. This film follows the story closely and examines exactly how they achieved this in a way which is accurate to actual events, that promises to take full advantage of the perceived absurdity of the situation to deliver a hilarious watch. With the film being based on the 2021 book The Antisocial Network by Ben Mezrich, it will allow the film to be more accurate to the actual events whilst also highlighting the key social and political fallouts of the squeeze. The film further boasts an all-star skilled cast with performances from Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sevastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, and Seth Rogan. With such a widely skilled cast that have given amazing dramatic and comedic performances, this will certainly make for an incredibly fun and informative watch. For those uninitiated, the film follows a group of investors from the r/WallStreetBets Reddit page. As they attempt to strike out against major hedge funds by radically increasing the value of GameStop shares, which as a result loses the major hedge funds billions as they had bet that the stocks would collapse in value. Further following the economically controversial fallout due to major investment sites such as Robinhood halting purchases which has caused them to be accused of market manipulation, and the political questions asked following these events through the hearing at Congress. As the film truly highlights the importance of this story. This entertaining and accurate account of the events will allow it to reach a wider audience alongside preserving the story in an easily accessible and watchable manner for the future. As such a widely coordinated and effective blow to major corporations is something we should always remember, so making the account of events as entertaining as this film is sure to be will only make spreading the story even easier.
