The Killer

After a hit goes wrong, a high end hitman must kill his employers before they kill him! Based on the French graphic novel of the same name, Michael Fassbender (The X-Men Franchise) stars as the titular unnamed high end assassin, and is in his element. A taciturn man of action, he spends a lot of the film philosophising, reciting basic rules that keep him alive, and listening to The Smiths. A consummate professional, he spends hours gazing into the lives of those that he is about to kill for the perfect shot, while spouting a number of his rules, typically ‘Forbid empathy. Empathy is weakness.’ While taking its time as it jumps from country to country, the film has a relentless intensity. A slick thriller lightened by occasional black humour, supported by Tilda Swinton (Avengers) and Charles Parnell (Top Gun: Maverick), this is well worth a watch.
