Shining a light on an unsung chapter of American history, Rustin follows Bayard Rustin (Euphoria star Colman Domingo) as he stands behind the scenes of the 1960s civil rights movement, organising some of its highest moments and advising its figureheads against insurmountable odds, all while battling the homophobia of the day, even from those whom he worked to help. Domingo’s charismatic, textured performance forms the core of this fascinating biopic, giving it his all to bring the long-ignored activist to life.
