The Marvels

The Marvels didn’t have an easy release to say the least – with the lack of press and promotion due to the strikes, twinned with the atmosphere of misogyny that swarms around female-led releases these days. That being said, it provides a nice little bit of silly, goofy fun and injects some much-needed lightness into the franchise, without taking itself too seriously. Carol Danvers returns as one of earth’s mightiest heroes, alongside some of the newest MCU inductees – Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan. With their powers combined, they must save the universe from its latest tyrannical villain, whose past intertwines with one of our heroes. Iman Vellani’s big screen debut is wonderful to see after her playful MCU introduction as Ms. Marvel on Disney+. Combined with Larson and Parris, they make for a great team up that made my little nerd heart sing.
