Review:

This thriller set in 1960s America follows the titular Eileen (McKenzie), who has a miserable home life living with her abusive father Jim (Whigham). She works in a prison, where she soon becomes enthralled by the stylish Rebecca (Hathaway), who starts there as a psychologist. However, as their new relationship – and Eileen’s obsession – deepens, they risk leading one another into a doomed situation with no easy way out. This film explores the fears of an isolated individual living an existence devoid of hope, before a chance encounter with someone whose powerful independence is intoxicating, and who may present a path to a new life. But since Eileen must navigate the grim reality of her current life at the same time as a new, addictive relationship, it is unclear whether she will make it through unscathed.
