Review:

“A tale as old as time” – one of Disney’s best animated films, released during the 90s, the period with some of the company’s most beloved movies. This one doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the vibrant songs, colourful characters, and its heartwarming story. Based on Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s original work, the film has spawned a franchise spanning sequels, a live-action remake, stage musicals, and theme park attractions. The music of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (both Disney legends!) is the highlight for me. Trust me, you’ll fall in love with Angela Lansbury’s spectacularly sung “Beauty and the Beast” song and my personal favourite “Belle”, the one that introduces us to the eponymous courageous, kind, and caring protagonist. She inspires us all to never judge a book by its cover. Belle (O’Hara) winds up stuck in an enchanted castle filled with the staff of the prince-turned-beast who have become lively, singing, dancing objects – I’m looking at you, Lumière! So, Be Our Guest, and come and see this timeless classic on the big screen in all its glory!
