Wicked Little Letters
Be careful what you post.
Likely the sweariest film you could take your mother to – uptight Victorian Britain having a giggle at some rude words! Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley stuff the movie with ounces of charisma, hilarious facial expressions, and lots of (slightly outdated) profanity, although Wicked Little Letters has more to it than just that. A nifty whodunnit is crafted around the unrelenting, impudent correspondences, whilst Anjana Vasan’s excellent “Woman Police Officer” Gladys gloriously stands up to the patronising and patriarchal setting she must work in. Wicked Little Letters is charming, escapist fun and well worth a watch, even if just to hear the joys of Olivia Colman swearing her heart out.
