The Book of Clarence
How far would you go to prove you're not a nobody?
The year is 33 AD and Clarence is stuck. A reputation for stirring up trouble on the streets of Jerusalem, Clarence (Stanfield) is destitute and in need of an escape from his poverty-stricken life of hazy drug-dens and shady brothels. A twist of fate sees atheist Clarence embarking on a quest to become the thirteenth apostle of Christ, a messiah performing miracles to make ends meet. Bedevilled by a mountain of debt, we follow our street-hustler-turned-saviour on his path to sanctity in this subversive and satirical tale, featuring familiar faces in the likes of James McAvoy, RJ Cyler, Caleb McLaughlin and Benedict Cumberbatch. Early reviews praise The Book of Clarence for its sheer novelty, a fresh take on an age-old story bolstered by heart-felt performances, a lively soundtrack and punchy dialogue.
