Review:

Mythologies galore have been adapted for the stage and screen but Disney’s Hercules, is one of the best.

After realising he's not like other skinny farm boys, Hercules embarks on a quest to go from Zero to Hero, with the help of satyr Phil (voiced by Short King Hall of Famer, Danny DeVito). He learns to use his newfound strength in order to make it back to Olympus to be reunited with his parents. Average demigod behaviour, if you ask me. However, Hades is hot on his tail, eager to foil the plans of the man destined to destroy him.

Hercules may be the main guy, but the best characters are in his orbit. You’ve got Megara, the sarcastic ‘damsel in distress’, who’s grappling with the horrifying realisation that she’s falling in love with a man and the fiercely funny villain Hades, who you can’t help but love. Also, special mention to the iconic muses, who are incredible storytellers, guaranteed to have you groovin’ in your seat.

Amazing songs are to be expected, with Zero to Hero and I Won’t Say I'm In Love being the highlights, helping make Hercules one of Disney’s best adaptations. So, don your best Air Hercs and Go the Distance (to L3) for the final time this term. There’s no better way to end this year at WSC and that’s the gospel truth!
