Thelma
Revenge has never been sweeter.
When a phone scammer poses as 93-year-old Thelma Post’s grandson and successfully cons her out of ten thousand dollars, it seems like there’s nothing to be done - until Thelma (June Squibb, who does most of her own stunts) enlists the help of a friend and his motorised scooter and sets out on a wild and dangerous quest across Los Angeles to get her money back. What follows is a pure delight, a comedic twist on classic action movies (move over, Mission: Impossible) that will keep you entertained from start to finish, while also offering a nuanced and poignant look at ageing. Funny, energetic, and full of chaos, Thelma is the sort of film that must be seen on the big screen.
