Review:

If you are drawn to the magical, expansive, and rich world crafted by J.R.R. Tolkien, WSC’s screening of LOTR: War of the Rohirrim is a fitting occasion to dust off your old chainmail and ride with the Rohirrim! Helm Hammerhand’s defense of Rohan against an army of Dunlendings is not just a story of courage and valour, but an exploration of the responsibility that comes with power. Director Kenji Kamiyama aims to capture this in an anime adaptation of Tolkien’s works. It remains to be seen whether Kamiyama is able to portray the magic of Rohirrim against mighty expectations set by Peter Jackson’s adaptation. With Brian Cox voicing Hammerhand, Miranda Otto returning as Eowyn, and a medium that affords much more freedom, The War of the Rohirrim is set to be an engrossing spectacle that is worthy of being enjoyed at Warwick Student Cinema. If you enjoy this film you can watch even more Tolkien magic at our AllNighter!
