Review:

Clear and Present Danger is the latest in the Tom Clancy series of novels, of the adventures of Jack Ryan, which have make the transition to the big screen.

Harrison Ford, reprising his role as Jack Ryan from Patriot Games, earns his promotion into the hierarchy of the C.I.A. and becomes a key advisor to the President himself. The focus of the film is the American federal government's war against drugs, and breaks from the conventional Hollywood approach to the subject by dealing with the higher echelons of the White House decison making itself.

As such, the political maneuvering and manipulations are seen through the eyes of Ryan (and very nice eyes they are too) as he discovers more about what happens behind the closed doors of the White House.

Without giving too much of the plot away, Ryan discovers some of the driving forces behind government initiatives are not as Snow White as they should be, along with the influences of more capitalistic concerns than should necessarily be the case.

Cue the plot for a film which has the heart of a tight political drama, with the action experience of a classic director and a massive budget and you have Hollywood at its very best; action, suspense and Harrison Ford (Excellent/Woof! - Ed).

Sam "Hormones Out Of Control" Hillyard.
