Review:

Who doesn't love Tom Hanks? A remake of the 2015 Swedish Film "A Man Called Ove", America's dad plays Otto Anderson, a grumpy old man who meets his match when a new family moves in next door. Despite his reluctance, he is drawn into their lives and learns the value of love, family, and community.

Don't be deceived by the premise alone though, as this film may be a comedy but it is so in some of the darkest of ways. It isn't at all afraid to touch on some very taboo subjects and themes, but has such a warm-hearted message that it still resides in the realm of a "cute film".

The fact Tom Hanks is in it makes it all the better, as you can feel the warmth and humour he brings to the surprisingly heavy role. It also goes without saying that Mariana Treviño, who plays one of the new neighbours, is the star of the show with an electric and charming performance that makes the disarming of Otto's gruff exterior all the more believable.

Also, there is a cat in this film.
