3. Fainting
At Sunday's showing of Revolutionary Road, an audience member fainted just before the credits and then attempted to leave the theatre via the usual doors. They stopped to recover in the passage between the doors. They had left the theatre, and presumably recovered, before the end of the credits. The rest of the audience were diverted to the other doors.
At Tuesday's showing of Revolutionary Road, the friend of a WSC crew member fainted near the end of the film and was taken outside by the crew member. Assistance was then given by a patrolling Security officer. The DMs were informed of this after the film. Another audience member fainted on their way out of the theatre. They were attended to by the DMs and had recovered within five minutes. Again, the rest of the audience were diverted to the other doors.
It was thought that a distressing scene near the end of the film, combined with the hot weather and revision stress, was the most likely cause of the fainting incidents.
In the event of an audience member fainting, it was agreed that Security only needed to be summoned if the audience member did not recover quickly. In this case, the incident should be considered an emergency and the film should be stopped.
Pierre raised the scenario of several faintings at the same screening. It was agreed that the best action would be to stop the film and call Security.
4. James said that Andrew had bought five high-visibility vests for his outdoor screening experiment.
5. James had bought two chrome-finished door wedges.
6. AOB
- James received two DVDs and a card from George and Natalie for his birthday.
- Pierre questioned James's use of his guest tickets. James revealed that he was owed two-and-a-half pints for tickets and milk that he had given to his housemate.
The meeting was adjourned at 6.29 pm.
