DM Meeting @ 2010-01-26 18:10:00
Minutes of the DM meeting held on 26 January 2010
6:10 pm
The Bar, Rootes Social Building
Present: James McLachlan, Fergus Cooper, Matthew Gardner, George Marshall, Edward McCutcheon, Natalie Tyldesley
In attendance: Laura Burtonshaw (trainee DM), Andrew Maddison (projectionist)
1. Welcome and apologies for absence
James welcomed those present to the third meeting of term.
Apologies were received from Gaby Aptula, Robert Gardner, Owen Rye, and Pierre Schramm.
2. Qualifications
James congratulated Fergus and Ed, who qualified at the showings of (500) Days of Summer.
3. Rotas
No shows remained free.
4. EPOS System
Ed reported that the IT Team would find out whether it was possible to check for Associate Membership of Socs Fed. If so, the yellow box would be disabled for Associate members of Socs Fed and information about joining WSC would be printed with their tickets.
Ed announced two imminent new features as part of a "Duty Manager's functions" section:
(i) the facility to credit University members with tickets;
(ii) the facility to refund tickets.
Ed said there would be a new, touch screen-compatible interface for the EPOS System within the next few weeks.
5. Start time and shutdowns
James explained that DMs should not ask for the start of the ads to be delayed unless there were exceptional circumstances (such as 70-mm screenings, short running times of ads and trailers, and busy sponsored events). George said that it is often possible to clear the queue at a busy show without having to start late or shut down. He added that the shutdown procedure should be covered during training.
6. AOB
- Ed reported that the late show of Sherlock Holmes had been activated for IT purposes.
- Fergus announced that the tag for the DM cupboard key needed replacing. James decided that a yellow tag would be used.
- Ed reminded those present that network problems with the tills should be reported to the IT Team.
- Fergus explained that if a proximity reader failed to work, it should be unplugged from its laptop, then plugged back in, and then restarted via the "Card Reader" application in Windows.
- Fergus queried whether stewards were informed when their crew status was revoked. James said they were not usually informed unless they were still signing up to shows.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:36 pm.
