DM Meeting @ 2010-04-27 18:10:00
Minutes of the DM meeting held on 27th April 2010
6:10 pm, The Bar, Rootes Social Building
Present: Robert Gardner, George Marshall, Edward McCutcheon, James McLachlan.
1. Welcome and apologies for absence
Rob welcomed those present to the first meeting of term.
Apologies were received from Matthew Gardner, Owen Rye and Natalie Tyldesley.
2. Rotas
Free slots remain for:
Qualified DMs: Week 2 Thursday & Friday early.
Trainee DMs: Week 2 Thursday, Friday (early & late) and Saturday.
3. L3 Refurb Update
A general update was given to those present on the meeting with the refurbishment group. There are a few aspects that could impact upon Front of House, including:
Changes to the door locks at the front of L3.
New doors, with windows, in the corridors.
It was noted that the refurb is due to be completed prior to the end of the summer holidays, in time for the MBA distance learning course in September.
4. Life Support for Duty Managers
Ed announced that he is now qualified as a TA. This means that he can now teach others a basic life support qualification. Aspects of this would include:
CPR for adults;
Dealing with bleeding;
The recovery position;
Dealing with fainting.
This is a 'bare-bones' course that would cover the basics for DMs (and others) if they're interested, and would result in a formal qualification at the end. Ed would look to run the course in weeks 9 and/or 10, probably as two 3-4 hour sessions, dependent upon the levels of interest.
5. Time, date & location of next meeting
The Chief Duty Manager is not free next Tuesday due to the Warwick Advantage Awards. Those present agreed that directly before the Exec meeting, at 5.30pm on Wednesday 5th May, in L3, was a suitable substitute for the meeting.
6. AOB
i) There is a KPMG banner to be put up at each screening. Fergus would have given more details, but in his absence it was decided to postpone this point until next week.
ii) Rob has put a couple of doorstops (one grey, one black) in his tray, these appear to hold the doors well.
iii) Due to Estates' seat manipulation in L3, it is nolonger necessary to reserve the back row at screenings.
iv) Conferences appear to have misplaced our KPMG signs, so some of the non-logo signs will be moved to the trolleys.
v) There are now more AOBs than people attending the meeting.
vi) It was agreed that people should meet in L3 at 9pm on Saturday (1st May) for a curry order prior to the midnight screening of Shaun of the Dead.
The line was drawn at 6.32pm
