Minutes of the DM meeting held on 5th May 2010
5:30 pm, L3, Science Concourse
Present: Robert Gardner, Fergus Cooper, George Marshall, Edward McCutcheon, James McLachlan & Owen Rye.
1. Welcome and apologies for absence
Rob welcomed those present to the second (and unusually timed & located) meeting of term.
Apologies were received from Matthew Gardner.
2. Rotas
Slots were filled throughout weeks 2 and 3 for qualified DMs.
Trainee DM slots remain for:
Week 2: Friday (early).
Week 3: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (early).
3. KPMG Banner
Banner now has easy to use hooks for facilitation of hooking it to the front row of the back section, on the end of the middle section on the exec office side. DMs were reminded to put this up at all shows!
4. Life Support for Duty Managers
Ed announced that he is now qualified as a TA. This means that he can now teach others a basic life support qualification. Aspects of this would include:
CPR for adults;
Dealing with bleeding;
The recovery position;
Dealing with fainting.
This is a 'bare-bones' course that would cover the basics for DMs (and others) if they're interested, and would result in a formal qualification at the end. Ed would look to run the course in weeks 9 and/or 10, probably as two 3-4 hour sessions, dependent upon the levels of interest. Ed pointed out that: "the standard is very low". Interest was stated by Owen, Rob & Fergus, and on behalf of Natalie T.
NB: The exec has now confirmed that it is willing to pay for those who take this course - contact Ed (itofficer@filmsoc.warwick.ac.uk) to declare your interest.
5. Time, date & location of next meeting
It was unanimously agreed to return to meeting at 6:10pm on Tuesday (11th May) in The Bar, Rootes Social Building.
6. AOB
i) It was confirmed by Fergus that there will be windows in the doors on the balcony level.
ii) Fergus has also been informed of mandatory asbestos checks of L3 - the society will not be permitted into L3 or Exec/proj box during these. They will run from 8am-5pm on Saturday & Sunday of each of the weekends at the end of weeks 3 and 4 (15/16 & 22/23 May).
iii) It was noted that Nick March was about for the evening.
iv) James queried ED (IT officer) as to when the Exec Drive would be back up and running, as he intends to access the DM booklet.
