Minutes of the DM Meeting held on Wednesday 6th October 2010
6.10pm, 'The Bar', Rootes Social Building
Present: Robert Gardner, Fergus Cooper, Mike Joy, George Marshall, Edward McCutcheon, James McLachlan & Owen Rye (late with apologies).

1. Welcome and apologies
All those present were welcomed to the first DM Meeting of the 2010/11 academic year.
Apologies were received from Veronika Lipinska, Andrew Maddison and Natalie Tyldesley.
2. Rotas
The rotas for week 1 were full - in spite of the omission to bring sign-up sheets for them by the Chief DM.
3. Matters arising from the refurb
* The spotlights in L3 are still flickering and so should not be used by projectionists until further notice. As such, the pre-film period (slides, ads & trailers) and the credits should occur without any additional lighting present. If a DM notes the presence of flickering spots in a show, they should contact the projectionist immediately. (CDM - These have been fixed as of Monday evening - 1110/2010)
* As a consequence of the above, the use of the new black row-reserved signs is not recommended as the audience doesn't seem to notice their presence upon the desk. Please use the white A4 row reserved signs until further notice.
* The step-edge LEDs appear to be coming off in places, so we are unsure as to whether or not all of these were re-applied at the end of the refurb. Keep an eye out on this.
* DMs are reminded that the last person to leave L3 after a screening needs to contact security to ask them to lock the room. x22083 or 02467522083 from a non-university phone.
* DMs need to hold the corridor door open for their Stewards whilst the tills are being taken in and out.
4. Wiki pages
An insufficient number of DMs have read the Stewarding Guide (wiki.filmsoc.warwick.ac.uk/Stewarding_Guide) and/or EPOS for Stewards (wiki.filmsoc.warwick.ac.uk/EPOS_for_Stewards) pages, so these will be re-raised at the meeting in week 2.
5. Cheques
Cheques are now to be made payable to "WarwickSU", not "UWSU". (CDM - These have now been amended in the floats.)
6. Memberships
Several issues are currently occurring with the filmsoc updates of memberships, especially for those bought on the tills. At present, you can DM override anyone their 'Free Members Ticket' after they purchase membership. (CDM - Keep an eye out on/for the latest on this on the DM listings.)
We have also had to re-install the union's membership selling software (POS) and currently have different login details to before. The user name is still "su399", but the password is currently [removed for security]. A note of this is currently labelled on each till's laptop.
7. AOB
i) KPMG have sent us a new banner - a vertical one which should be used instead of the old horizontal one and placed on the right edge of the balcony - viewable from the main entrance to L3, during shows. This is kept on the shelf above the three tills.
ii) Several people are currently not registering as students when their card is scanned on POS. Keep an eye out for this - it may relate to them not allowing transferal of their information to the Union from their "my.Warwick" pages. We can not add them as a student.
