Minutes of the DM Meeting held on Wednesday 13th October 2010
6.10pm, 'The Bar', Rootes Social Building
Present: Robert Gardner, George Marshall, Edward McCutcheon, James McLachlan & Owen Rye (late with apologies).
In Attendance: Andrew Maddison, Liam McNamara
1. Welcome and apologies
All those present were welcomed to the second DM Meeting of the 2010/11 academic year.
Apologies were received from Veronika Lipinska and Natalie Tyldesley.
2. Rotas
There are still qualified DM slots available for:
Alien (Sat Week 2)
Jurassic Park (6:30pm, Sun Week 3)
Remember Me (Tue Week 3)
Please sign-up if you can.
Also, please note that there are now 5 stewarding slots available per screening, given that there are so many people currently interested in stewarding.
3. Memberships
i) MSL - (the Union's membership selling system) - this now seems to be working happily, along with our own EPOS system's checking of it for both socs fed and WSC memberships.
ii) DMs membershis - Rob reminded all those present that they need membership by the end of week 3, before establishing that they were all current members already! For all those who weren't there, please keep me updated on any issues you have in purchasing membership. If I don't hear from you and you don't have DM status before the end of week 3, then you will lose all DM rights until resuming your membership!
iii) New pricing information - Rob informed all those present of the new pricing information coming into place for the Spring Term onwards.
4. Wiki pages
An insufficient number of DMs have read the Stewarding Guide (wiki.filmsoc.warwick.ac.uk/Stewarding_Guide) and/or EPOS for Stewards (wiki.filmsoc.warwick.ac.uk/EPOS_for_Stewards) pages, so these will be re-raised at the meeting in week 3. Please, please, please have a look at them!!!
5. AOB
i) The spotlights in L3 have now been 'fixed'.
ii) Andrew is going to investigate next week what's going on with the internet port on the concourse. For now, DMs must continue to take the cable down from above the ceiling tiles above the port.
iii) There is a midnight screening this Saturday (Aliens), prior to which there will be an Indian takeaway order, being phoned through at 9pm.
iv) Take That (including Robbie - says Owen) is on the TV! It turned out not to be Take That - rather just Robbie and Gary.
v) DMs should revert to using the new black row-reserved signs now that the spotlights are working in L3.
vi) DMs need to take care to ask their new stewards not to walk across the projectors on the back row, especially when tidying up L3 during the credits.
vii) Food should not be eaten over the till laptops, under any circumstances.
The meeting was adjourned at 6.51pm.
