Monday 3/10/11 (Autumn week 1) 18:10 SSL

1. Welcome and Apologies
Everyone was welcomed back from the holidays to a new Uni year.


2. Rotas
These were sent round – as is the Chief Proj’s want.


3. Digital Installation Report
a. Mostly completed.

b. Info for distributers has been sent by Olie.

c. We do have Cine Canvas installed.

d. Still not networked in.

e. 3-phase cable still needs to be replaced by the longer one.

f. Automation cabling not complete (does not have a close making automation).

g. Perhaps consider wiring in P3 button to activate douser.

h. Alternate content source does not have very good key-stoning (though it is considered better then 35mm projectors).

i. Fergus is to look into hardware and/or software to improve this so that the slideshow computer can play through this.

j. Warranty + service contract:

i. AAM still delaying with paperwork

ii. Both AAM and SA can provide service contracts.

iii. SA 35mm service contract is far too expensive according to Fergus.

k. Tim D said that it might be interesting to setup automation for website.

l. Need passwords to access options on server including screen calibration.
m. We hope that the film keys will show the windows in which they can be played.


4. Digital Cinema
a. Only one USB port (top) works on server.

b. Can perhaps rig-up a USB extension lead so that film servers can be put in a better location.

c. Metropolis will be in Academy.

d. Windows package available to create DCI compliant material.

e. The Projection committee is happy to proceed with the screening on Metropolis without warranty etc.

f. Metropolis key has been sent to Arts Centre server.

g. Distributors have been asked to email keys to dump.

h. Metropolis has arrived and is in proj box.

i. Given running cost of digital projector is < that of data projector – we shall be looking into running slideshow + KPMG/marketing video via Alternate content processor.

j. Possible to obtain digital A+Ts from Pearl + Dean and digital trailers.

k. Matt Breeze stated that lacing A+Ts is very good practice for trainees.

l. It was stated that the stability of the A+Ts is very bad and that it would be good to eliminate this.
Projecting Digital

m. Trainees cannot sign-up to project digital screenings for the foreseeable future.

n. Up to four QProj can help project digital screenings so they can pick it up.

o. Metropolis will be our dry-run screening.


5. Training Scheme
a. We will be taking on freshers such that we will have about a dozen trainees.

b. It was noted that this will be one of the last few years where we can qualify trainees.


6. Projection Procedure Changes
a. Latest start-up cue will be placed on wall.

b. DMA8+ now has PC and DTS as well as P3 (digital projector). These are all labelled and an email has been sent out about it.


7. Documents
a. Tim forgot to bring his Q-show Brief, Q-show procedure and Training Guide – these shall be emailed to QProj.


8. Membership renewal reminder
Remember that you have to renew your memberships before you can project.


9. Time and Date of next meeting
Next meeting on 10th October in SSL at 18:10


10. AOB
a. New clutch plates have been installed.

b. Max H asked that a new lacing torch for P2 be obtained.

c. First Aid kit + lens cabinet have now been moved – familiarise yourself with their new locations.
