Projectionists Meeting @ 2006-10-31 18:00:00

Minutes of Projectionists Meeting 31st October 06

Present: Ed, Jeffry, Ian, Aiden, Matt, Amanda, Rob, Martin, James M, Andrew, Tim, Tom, Gareth

Apologies: Nick.

Rotas: Rotas are filled except for the Saturday midnight showing. Rachel will be in Birmingham on Saturday night, so would prefer not to do it. (Volunteers Please!)

Weekly Report:

The King: Problem with gate tension on P2 meant that projector made a horrible noise. Rachel couldn’t work it out, called 3 members of the tech team before anyone answered their phone! Martin said he couldn’t answer his phone because he was wearing a skeleton costume. Suggestions for future efficiency is a) call Matt first, and also update the list of technical team contacts in the proj box as it is out of date.

Indiana Jones: Some problems with the sound, due to aging on the film, and on our sound heads. Matt learned that if you put a multimeter on the mag heads it makes a really bad noise.

Scary Movie 4: There was a problem with the slide projector not working, and no one being around who knew its status. There will be further technical adjustments to the slide projector, but it is important that everyone knows what has been changed and any effects that might have. Several people commented that its is pretty much impossible to start up with the ‘enjoy the show’ slide when you are on your own.

Tim then gave everyone an update on the status of the data proj. It should come on when ‘slides’ are pressed, then on startup, if we press ‘esc’ at the same time as run, we can use the slide timed leader as with the old slides. When you changeover to P1, the data proj switches off, and after a couple of minutes the presentation re-sets itself for the next show (And will come on when slides is pressed)

Enron Early: A real pain with the racking, but otherwise OK.

Enron Late: As above. Rob didn’t break anything.

Transamerica Early: Ok. Tim didn’t fill in the show comments.

Transamerica Late: Film was fine. Problems with startup as a result of Amanda having to do it on her own, and the data proj taking too long to bring up the ‘Enjoy the Show’ slide, which then messed up the timing.

AOB:
Various people have been having problems with permissions on the website (I can’t remember what this point was, so if anyone can, pls let me know!) Trainee Projectionists cannot currently see the contacts page.

General comment: we should stop putting pictures up with copyright logos on them.

Rachel reminded everyone that WFF is launching at the end of this week, and help with publicity runs would be appreciated. Aiden whistles innocently.

Other notices:
Amanda is celebrating her birthday this Saturday with Dinner at the Burnt Post – meeting 7pm in L3.
Nick sent an email inviting everyone to his housewarming gathering, also on ‘this Saturday (4th November) at 86 Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill. We will be going for Pizza and there will be nibbles but people are invited to bring their own drink. I realise there is a late show on but this will make a change from Late Night Spice and my house is very close to a bus stop so there really is no excuse. Much like your gathering last year I am in competition with Cerys to see how many people I can bring so I'd like to see lots of people coming.’

It is also Tim’s birthday on Sunday, and he intends to be a miserable sod about it.
