2. Technical Officer's Report
Service contract for digital projector got sent but to the wrong address (it got sent to just “University of Warwick”, so if you are within the university, but not affiliated with the cinema, yet happen to be reading these projection meeting minutes and also happen to be in possession of the contract, it would be appreciated if you could let us know so we can come and collect it :-)).
3. Training
There are still many different training sessions required for many different trainees.
4. Projection Procedure Changes
Due to several recent shows in the last few weeks having mistakes occurring in relation to aperture plates, a discussion was held as to what the procedure should be for where aperture plates are left when not being used.
The first argument was that the aperture plates should always be left in the projectors because we do not need to swap aperture plates anymore; and if a mistake were to occur, it would be a lot faster to fix the problem (i.e. the wrong aperture is in the light path) than the aperture plate not being in the projector at all (which could take ~10 seconds).
The counter argument was that if the aperture plates are removed, an effort has to be made by the next projectionist to place the plates back into the projectors; in doing so, the projectionist should also place the correct aperture in the light path as they are not assuming it will be correct just because it is the projector already from the previous show.
No consensus was reached as to what the procedure should be. However, a point was made that we could just not have an official procedure for what to do with the plates when they are not in use, but instead make sure they are correct before playing (which is of course already a part of the projecting procedure).
5. Time and Date of Next Meeting
The next meeting will be on Monday 23th April at 18:10 in the SSL.
6. AOB
Tim G:
- There is a social on Wednesday (14th March) at the ‘Royal Bengal’ curry house in Earlsdon, members were encouraged to attend
- A query was made as to what will be happening with the trailer laminate, Enrik said he would be updating it over the holidays so it would require less physical effort to make the trailer change
Rob G:
- The next clothing order will be sent through soon, if you would like some amazing filmsoc clothing, then please fill out the request online and give money to a DM by the end of the day on Sunday (18th March)
- Some new CDs would be nice :D (also see Fergus’ AOB)
Fergus C
- On the point of new CDs, use FLAC or Wav sound formats so they sound better (and not MP3 or FLAC and Wav formats converted from MP3 as they will still have compressed elements)
- To reiterate from a few weeks ago, to complete the trailer change, the projector head must be on and the current playlist needs to be paused and ejected before the changes can be made and saved
Meeting Ended at 18:51
