Projectionists Meeting @ 2012-11-05 18:14:00

Monday 05/11/12 (Autumn week 6) 18:14 SSL

1. Welcome and Apologies for Absence

Present: Enrik N (Chair), Rob M, Max H, Neil A, Fergus C

In attendance: James M, Alex P, Jacqui B

Apologies: Ed M, Tim G, Rob G, R. H, Sam K, Andy M, Georgie R, Yeng S

2. AllNighter Rota

Enrik told those present of the people who were already interested in projection at the AllNighter and asked those present at the meeting if they would wish to project. Sam K, Georgie R and R. H have already expressed interest or may be interested, so the empty spots shall be offered to them in the mailing lists.

This was the rota after the meeting:

1. Ted (platter):
2. Brave (6000s): Yeng S/Tim G
3. The Usual Suspects (platter*):
4. Mr E (6000s): Rob M
5. The Bourne Legacy (6000s):
6. Jaws (digital): Max H

Note: for playing The Usual Suspects, it may be a good idea to look at the 2006 Spring making-up booklet in order to see what condition that print was in because we may very well receive the same one.

With the intention of keeping MR E a mystery (see what I did there?), James M requested that no one expect Rob M, Ed M and himself check the dump/return films. An e-mail will be sent to dump by James to let people know this.

3. Technical Officer’s Report

The masking was broken and not changing when pressing the buttons – magic fixed this!

Some kind of microphone aerial extension needs to be looked into.
The vent on the right hand side (when looking at the stage) of L3 at the top is very noisy and quite noticeable during shows.

Ilight is fixed (maybe). Proj Power must be on when it’s used or else the website will crash – more testing will be done soon with the IT Officer.

4. Training

Jacqui B’s ATSs and Alex T’s ATS2 will tried to be arranged on Wednesday.
Alex P’s Snaps Test will be on Saturday. Projs will arrive around 11pm and the trainee at 1pm. Fergus C, Neil A, Max H and Enrik N said that they should be present.

Enrik would like to remind everyone to use the ‘Trainee Status Tracker’ in the new booklets, which is on the first page – it uses a tally system.

Additionally, the new booklets encourage platter usage after the ATS1 so Enrik would like to remind projectionists that the trainees should have at least 1 platter show during show 6-8 of their training if possible.

5. Projection Procedure Changes/Discussion

Enrik informed everyone that it is possible to ingest to the doremi server in the digital projector via a computer in the office. In the windows browser, simply type in the address bar: ftp://doremi/ . This will prompt you for a password which I’m sure everyone knows! You then simply drag and drop whatever you wish to ingest (e.g. KDMs) into the window and it will ingest it.

When it comes to ingesting the KDM for a digital film, it is best to ingest the KDM at least 48 hours before the show is due to be shown so there is a reasonable time frame in which problems can be dealt with, should they occur.

The hole on the racking knob on the projectors should be roughly facing you before the first reel is due to be projected. This is so there is a whole frames worth of movement both up and down. It was suggested that the hole should be reset to the facing position at the end of the show.

7. Time and Date of next meeting

The next meeting shall be on 12th November 2012 at 18:10 in the SSL.

8. AOB

Fergus C:

- There have been a couple of problems recently with the backplate not being put in properly. Could projectionists please make sure they put it back in correctly and also check before their show that they are in correctly.

Meeting Ended at 18:54
