DM Meeting @ 2018-02-27 18:10:00

Tuesday 27th February 2018

Meeting commenced: 1810

1. Welcome and apologies

Present: Iain, Taylor, Richard, Caleb, Alex, Justin, Casper, Matt P, Antoinette, Matteo
Apologies: Mike Joy, Anjana, Matt W, Chris, Jamie

The CDM welcomed those present and distributed a packet of malted milk biscuit, purchased from the Cannon Park Aldi.

The former CDM (2017-18) distributed his shadow snacks — this week, a 5-pack of Meatster Salami Snacks, also from the Cannon Park Aldi.

2. Rotas

Week 8

Q-DM
• All filled

T-DM
• All filled

Week 9

Q-DM
• All filled

T-DM
• Saturday 10th March, 9.30pm — Coco — Antoinette

3. Lost property

• The CDM has created a lost property log for use by DMs, so that if someone ever contacts us through social media or by email then the log can be checked. If you find any lost property, before or after a screening, please remember to fill in the log or, if you are unable to, let the CDM know. This includes items left in L3 as well as items that are taken to the gatehouse.
• The CDM was asked to look into this lost property log either being put on the website somehow or for a link to be made available on the website.
• Security have indicated that they would rather keys be taken to Senate House, but this would be impractical after shows since they only open until 8pm on weekdays and until 6pm on weekends.

4. Lessons from the Allnighter

• The CDM thanked all of those who helped to run it. Staff tickets can be collected from the CDM’s tray.
• Collection through POS didn’t work, apparently due to a box not being ticked on the SU’s end. In advance of Macbeth, the CDM will need to ensure that this is done.
• The list containing information about who was working each film was considered useful until the corridor light was turned off. It was suggested that in future such a list be put in the office.
• Even more blu tack was suggested in order for the posters to stay up, as well as a better application of the blu tack.
• Taking a photo of the outgoing exec was considered to have delayed setting up tills.
• The briefing was considered to have taken too long.
• The first ticket took a while to print. It was suggested that a test ticket be printed from each printer beforehand to make the start of ticket selling smoother.
• The question of whether or not there were too many people on the rotas was considered — having a large starting number was thought necessary given how many people leave throughout the night.
• All DMs who are working the Allnighter should wear their polo shirts.
• Better communication from the E&S coordinator and the CDM was requested.

5. AOBs

i. Banking emails are automatically sent at 2am. If you ever submit a deactivation form in error, or if you realise the information contained within it is incorrect, inform the IT officer before 2am to stop the email being sent out.
ii. The CDM asked those present for their thoughts on labelling banking bags, as it could be useful in the event of IT or deactivation issues. It was suggested that only the initials of films be used to deter people from stealing the takings of films perceived to be busy in the event of people other than DMs and the Treasurer having access to the banking bags.
iii. Since the last meeting, the CDM purchased Blu Tack. However, it was heavily used during the Allnighter. There is still some in the DM cupboard, but there is also some in the publicity cupboard — please ask the publicity officers if you would like to use it.
iv. WSC’s Henry Hoover is now in the office under the desk. Please inform the CDM if it has been moved.
v. Macbeth is now on the rotas. Entry will cost £4 for everyone except those on the rotas. It was suggested that the show’s DM print out a notice to inform crew and members of this. The CDM will inform crew, and will ask whether the President could mention it in her email to members.
vi. Thursday (1 March) is the last day to use the old £10 notes. Please inform stewards not to accept them. DMs should use their discretion, as they can still be banked if necessary.
vii. Casper advertised a number of events taking place on Wednesday Week 9: the exec meeting, the events & socials coordinator election, and then a meal and POP!
viii. It was advised that the DM only say the name of the film in their announcement if they know what they intend to say before they say it, to avoid the embarrassment of forgetting the title mid-announcement.
ix. Caleb appealed to the members of the new exec who were present to deal with the issue of personal items taking up space in the office.
x. Alex asked everyone to roll A2s.
xi. The new safe code was distributed to those requiring it.
