3. AOBs
i. Matt Potter was congratulated on passing his qualification show last Saturday.
ii. The CDM asked people who had spare unmarked polo shirts to bring them in if unused.
iii. Door stops are no longer to be used. The ‘we’re still setting up’ sign should remain up until the DM begins letting people in, at which point they should hide the sign to avoid confusing customers — the back of the outer bolted door was suggested as a good place to leave the sign when not in use. The ‘no popcorn’ and ‘no photography’ signs should now be placed on the inner bolted doors. Furthermore, a number of suggestions were put forward for the redesigning of the signs:
a. A new double-sided sign containing ‘we’re still setting up’ on one side and ‘please come in’ on the other. This would replace the existing ‘we’re still setting up’ sign, and could be turned around once DM begins letting people in.
b. A more visual sign indicating what items are prohibited. For instance, it could contain an image of popcorn with a red line through it.
c. A brand new sign to be placed on the L4-side L3 doors to ask people to instead use the other set of doors.
d. A new ‘no photography’ sign, which perhaps could include reference to Snapchat.*
iv. MSL POS is currently not working, meaning that memberships cannot be sold at the tills. Customers can instead be encouraged to buy membership online. While a solution is believed to be close, Richard mentioned that he has a QR code that links to our membership page on the SU website, which could be potentially useful in future.
v. Those present were encouraged to make use of the lost property log, which is now accessible through a shortened link.
vi. It was noted that the ‘we’re still selling tickets’ slide only appears once in the shut down playlist, meaning it is of little use to anybody who enters while the shutdown is already underway. The CDM was encouraged to ask the Chief Projectionist to make this slide appear more often in rotation.
vii. In future, if three or more stewards are staying for the film, one steward should be placed near the top of the upper section as it would better enable them to monitor the audience and spot any latecomers.
viii. Reece noted that the society was shortlisted for four SU society awards. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday Week 8, and tickets go on sale at midday on Tuesday Week 3 at tickets.warwicksu.com. Several people in the society are already interested in going.
ix. Casper revealed that he met a dog with the same name as our IT Officer at the Pets as Therapy (PAT) session earlier that day.
x. The CDM encouraged those present to vote in the elections taking place that day.
* This idea was conceived by the CDM whilst typing up the minutes, and was included due to its relevancy to what was discussed in the meeting.
