3. Notices
• Remember to buy membership — you can’t work a show without one.
• Societies Federation can now be sold again through POS.
• If you ever accidentally deactivate a show and then have to re-activate it:
- if you then deactivate it again, then the banking form that was accidentally submitted will be overridden;
- if it is left overnight, then the accidental banking form will remain and will be sent to the SU at 2am — if you leave it active, then let the IT team know ASAP so they can stop it being sent out.
• Make sure to use #errorreports on Slack if there are any IT issues so the IT Team can be made aware of it. Please try to be understanding of the IT Team and patient as they solve issues.
• Lost property policy — previous hatch in gatehouse no longer there, replaced by an enquiries desk that’s mainly for car parking and is closed in the evenings. Gatehouse continues to be open 24/7, so lost property can still be dropped off at night — just use the telephone that’s left out and someone will come to assist you. Security only have a small lost property cupboard, so where possible please avoid bringing large items of lost property.
- There’s a link to the lost property log on the inside of the door of the DM Cupboard in the office. It is really important this is used so if anyone does contact us, then whoever gets the message can check easily if we’ve seen it.
• Like with the new ‘Free for Everyone’/‘Free for Member’ tickets, there is now also a generic ‘Society Collaboration’ ticket that is available to tick in show set-up. The CDM will inform you beforehand when there is a collaboration and will leave a list of members of the society we are collaborating with.
• New UV torches have been purchased. To use, switch the setting to ‘Tube’ and shine on the top of the note and the denomination should show (i.e. ’50’). Do for all £50s, and ideally for £20s too but use your discretion. Leave in flight cases, but preferably not the master as that’s already quite full.
• Please make sure the office is clean after you leave — put any litter and dishes away. This will make the office much more pleasant to use, and will give a good impression to the many new people who will be coming through over the coming weeks. Likewise, if a bin is full, please take it out — if it is between double screenings or on Friday and Saturday please take down to the bins under library bridge; otherwise just leave it out by the bins in L3 and they will be collected. It is unpleasant to have bin bags lying about when people come to the cinema.
• Popcorn trial agreed pending arrival of cordless sweeper, sign might be created.
• Hot drinks discussed but nothing settled.
• Lots of trainee stewards incoming after the Getting Involved meeting — please remember to comment on their profiles, and to make them feel as welcome as possible.
4. Harry Potter Marathon
• Collaboration with Harry Potter & Quidditch Society, their members get £10 tickets.
• Correction from last meeting — non-member tickets are £13 not £12.
• Caleb, Taylor and Jamie will be there for the whole night.
• To be discussed more at the next meeting.
• Issue of evening meal to be raised with the exec.
5. TADONM
• Doodle Poll coming soon to determine next meeting.
6. AOBs
i. Following a query from the IT team, it was thought that the tills were not noticeably quicker - but on this front, 'no news is good news' is applicable.
ii. Confusion about colours of stripes on cards. CDM might enquire. Continue to look out for the red stripe for 'Staff — First Film Free’ tickets', and the card should also say 'Staff' on.
iii. Roll A2s plz.
iv. If an EAW card is shown as ‘hotlisted’, this means that it has been reported as missing or stolen. If a person has two cards (for instance, having lost and then later found their card but having received a new card in the meantime), top-ups will only go to the new card.
v. Please remind stewards that only the two tills next to the EAW machine should process transactions through it.
vi. Opportunities for people who aren’t at the university for long enough to become DMs but would like greater involvement with Front of House were discussed. In a similar vein to Projection considering possibility of having 35mm workshops, we could offer shadow shows so they can see how DMing works, but priority in terms of trainee spots will be given to trainees, or, for shadow shows, for those interested in DMing.
