Team Updates:
DM: SO: On track to qualify 2 people early next term,
Marketing: ED: A few people responded to the form to sign up for marketing,
Socials: SC: End of term email was good. If anyone has suggestions for next meal in Cov please send. The calendar for next term will be done over christmas. Pub quiz been confirmed.
Films: ZM: Schedule mostly confirmed, only thing left is the all nighter.
Publicity:
SO: Been some issues, as it stands we have less than a week to get to print. A4 and LC gone to proofing, A0 in progress, booklet up to week 7 and should be somewhat done by mon/tues. Shouldn’t have been this tight – future execs need to be prepared for the 15th Nov deadline. Communication between publicity and films officers needs to be better – felt like I wasn’t being told when things were changing. What can we do in future?
KH: Currently taking for granted that people will drive to collect publicity to get it here in time. Going to have to pay for priority turn around which is more expensive.
SO: Will still be trying to get it turned around for the initial deadline but it means having to work a lot harder and drop other things to get this finished.
Avoiding this in future: Exec as a whole need to communicate more, meet more often, check slack more, and make sure everyone is holding each other to account. Will be meeting more often next term to help with this. People also forget what we discuss in meetings so important to remember action points etc.
In terms of programming: ZM: Deadlines are probably reasonable, didn’t communicate enough with each other and so once the deadline had passed we were just playing catch up. Delay between programming meeting and getting the second draft published.
KH: Worth adding this to a handover pack, eg deadlines which are set in stone + advice for this term? Could go worse than this for future execs with distributors out of office etc.
All-Nighter/Evening of Anderson:
Evening of Anderson: Start at 6:30, sell as one event ticket, £6/£8 (similar to evening of Ghibli which was successful previously), no singles. Don’t have to do trailers etc in the middle then. Will have staff to let people in between films and will publish approximate start times on the SU website in case people want to see individual ones. Will consider having something event-y on between films.
All-Nighter: SpC: Nobody seems to have John Wick so no Keanu Reeves and the Matrix is back on the schedule.
KH: Between now and setting prices we need to know how much it’ll cost and predict how many people will come, need to see if it’ll pay for itself. Have had bad all-nighters in the past (once sold 18). If we can’t get it on the publicity it’s not worth doing.
Probably possible to get it booked by the 13th so it can be in the publicity. Lord of the Rings again is a possibility – could make plenty of money if people are happy to work it.
AOBs:
KH: Ticket sales this term have been very pog – even taking major anomaly EEAAO out it’s still much better than usual. Well done gang :)
ZM: When do we want all the films on the website: ANS: 14th December, when SU sales go out.
SpC: Added Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey to the schedule, getting a 1 day release on a Wednesday. Can get into printed publicity if it gets confirmed.
KH: The Afterlight? Would be cool to get it on the schedule. Will be chased up.
MK: Anna’s SHAGfest – is she deciding films? ANS: Yes, she said she’d suggest stuff and sort it out after today. SO will hammer on her door.
MK: Well done everyone for this term, after last year everyone was depressed and the numbers were disheartening so for this term to do so well is very pog. KH: Also had an absurd number of loyalty cards – 10% of people at muppets had full loyalty cards. Pog.
Meeting ended at 4.08pm.
