DM Meeting @ 2007-11-27 18:15:00

DM Meeting Minutes: Tuesday, 27 November 2007

6.15 pm, Rococo

1. Welcome and apologies
Present: James McLachlan, Rachel Crofts, Robert Gardner, Mike Joy, George Marshall, Martin Mee, Matt Pusey, Natalie Tyldesley
Apologies: Helen Coe, Pierre Schramm

2. Rotas
The Rush Hour 3 shows require DMs.

3. EPOS system
There is a new ticket type to select on show setup, the "Comp Five Film Ticket" for passes won at The AllNighter.
Matt will create a carer ticket for DM override sale only.

4. Till rolls
When changing till rolls, the DM who exhausts the supply in the desks should replenish it with two or three new till rolls. Rachel feels strongly about this: "It is a personal vendetta against the other DMs."

5. AOB
(i) An audience member took two pictures of the film during The Simpsons Movie on Saturday. He was asked to delete the pictures and leave the theatre. He complied but was then reluctant to leave the vicinity of L3 and eventually left at the start of the credits.
Rachel is concerned that DMs are causing too much disturbance when acting upon such incidents. DMs must try to minimise disturbance when ejecting audience members. It was agreed that it is a good idea to have two DMs present when confronting audience members, but extra help should only be called for if it is needed.

(ii) There will be curry before the midnight show this Saturday. The plan is to meet at 9.00 pm in L3.

(iii) The Chief DM reported a refund at the tills on Sunday.

(iv) James will buy tinsel for use at shows from Friday.

(v) James will investigate card printing for tickets.

(vi) Robert believes that the new sign (positioned on the inner doors to L3) is easy to forget at the ends of shows. James reminded everyone that it is only a recommended position and that "the DM can stick the sign wherever he or she wants to. That could be an insult."

(vii) There has been a spate of "cushion rustling" in Rococo. George's cushion was missing at the start of the meeting, then Matt's cushion, and finally the cushion on another sofa. "The vicious cycle must end."

(viii) There will be a clothing order at the end of term. Matt (newly qualified) and Natalie (trainee DM without WSC clothing) are entitled to one free polo shirt or T-shirt each. When placing the order, Helen must remember that Matt is this size.

(ix) In an effort to encourage stewards to become more involved and train as DMs, the DM should invite stewards to the bar after shows.

(x) Robert noted that, with the recent late starts and long adverts, latecomers often arrive during the first trailer. Thus it can be difficult to justify to them the charge of £4. It would be ideal if the films started at ten minutes to the hour rather than five minutes to the hour.
At present the adverts are over ten minutes long and the UBS video frequently starts late. Rachel would like the UBS video to start at 28 minutes past the hour so that the ads start at half-past. She may raise this issue on the QProj listing.
