DM Meeting @ 2008-04-29 18:10:00

6:10pm, Rococo.

(1) Welcome and apologies.

Present: Matt, Andrew, George, Natalie, Rachel, Rob, James (late), Jeffrey.
Apologies: Helen, Mike, Pierre, Rachel (for tardiness).

(2) Rotas.

The Chief DM had printed off two copies of Week 2 and no copies of Week 3 for convenience. Those present eventually managed to reconstruct the Week 3 schedule.

(3) Training checklist

The purpose and scope of the checklist was discussed. It is intended to be used both during training and at a qualification. It should consist of one section listing the things that should be done at every screening (e.g. check floats), and another listing things a DM should know or be able to do when necessary (e.g. fire procedure). The Chief DM will produce a draft.

(4) AOB.

* Rachel had seen something that made her cry: a house in Coventry that was beautiful outside and rubbish inside.
* Front of House recruitment strategies for next year were discussed at length. A particular focus was how to avoid tours of the proj box completely distracting people from other areas of the society. Ideas included a change of venue, specifically advertising "stewarding with a view to DMing", and demonstration of/assistance with signing up to the website to reduce the length of the new steward email.
* The contacts page appears to be unavailable to trainee DMs. The Chief DM will raise this with the IT officer.
* Rachel had had the pink night safe key since last term.
